On Thursday, February 15, at 10 pm officers responded to reports of a disturbance at the Village Inn Motel located at 453 S. Broadway. Upon arrival, officers encountered a 48-year-old male resident of Salina, who claimed that 38-year-old Kelsey Hathaway, also from Salina, had ignited his pants with a lighter while they were still on him. Fortunately, the man escaped without injury. Alcohol may have been a contributing factor.

Hathaway was arrested on the requested charge of Aggravated Arson. Prior to being taken into custody, she was transported to the hospital due to possible intoxication. However, at the hospital she purportedly spat on a 23-year-old female nurse. Consequently, she faces an additional requested charge of battery related to the altercation with the nurse.
