On September 3 at 10:57 am, SPD was dispatched to Dollar General at 840 E Crawford, for a possible shoplifting. The manager had allegedly recognized a person from an incident that had occurred the day before. The subject was believed to be in a black Dodge Avenger.
On officer arrival, the officer reportedly recognized the driver of the vehicle, as the driver took off. The officer attempted a stop, but the driver fled West on Prescott at speeds of 60 mph, causing the officer to terminate the pursuit.
A minute later, another officer reportedly saw the vehicle in the 1000 block of W South St. Another traffic stop was attempted, but the driver fled West on South St, then South on Broadway to 9th St. The vehicle then allegedly drove through a ditch to avoid the traffic light, and the pursuit was terminated.
