Vehicle Eludes Officer After Traffic Stop Attempt

At 11:30 pm on Wednesday, August 23, an alert officer in the area of Crawford and Sheridan observed a vehicle, operating without headlights, prompting a traffic stop endeavor. However, the situation escalated when the vehicle fled from the scene, initiating a pursuit that weaved through various neighborhoods.

The pursuit, which began in the southern direction from Crawford, led the officer on a chase to the east part of town, onto Ohio St. The vehicle reached speeds of up to 80 mph while heading southward, eventually leaving the city limits via Ohio St. The pursuit continued even as the road transitioned to gravel.

Due to the increasing risks posed by the gravel terrain, the officer made the decision to terminate the chase. The vehicle was a silver 1995 GMC Jimmy.
