UPDATE: An autopsy was conducted on January 29, 2023, and no signs of fatal trauma were located during the examination. The autopsy and toxicology findings have been received for Mr. Reed. Mr. Reed’s cause of death is listed as a fentanyl overdose. Salina Police Detectives continued to investigate.

On March 28, 2023, warrants were issued for Jack Allen Kelley and Garret Clayton Crutchfield, Salina residents, for criminal desecration of a body and interference with law enforcement.

On March 29, 2023, Jack Allen Kelley, a Salina resident, was booked into the Saline County Jail for one count of criminal desecration of a body and one count of interference with law enforcement.

If anyone knows Garret Clayton Crutchfield’s location, please contact the Salina Police Department at (785) 826-7210 and ask for dispatch to report his location.

The autopsy findings, toxicology report, and information from the case investigation have been provided to the Saline County Attorney, Jeff Ebel.

On January 28th, 2023, at 1:05 AM, Salina Police Dispatch received a call from a citizen, who reported a body in the 1900 block of N. 5th Street, Salina. Officers responded and found a deceased male on the side of the roadway. Paramedics responded, but were unable to revive the man. An investigation ensued, attempting to determine if the person perished there due to the elements, or if the person had been left there by others. The party was identified as 20-year old Brendon Thomas Wade Reed. Mr. Reed’s next-of-kin has been notified. Salina Police Detectives are investigating the reasons surrounding Mr. Reed’s passing,
and seek answers for his family.
