Teen's Early Morning Escapade Leads to Arrest

On Sunday, October 29, officers were sent to the 700 block of N 13th, reporting an intoxicated teenager attempting to drive away in a vehicle. The individual in question was identified as 18-year-old Austin Wheeler from Culver, KS. Wheeler ended up at the N 13th trailer park, where officers were already present for an unrelated incident.

Upon making contact with Wheeler, officers believed he was intoxicated and detained him on the grounds of his age and apparent intoxication. He was placed inside a patrol vehicle. However, Wheeler allegedly began headbutting within the vehicle, resulting in damage. Officers removed him from the patrol vehicle and placed him in a body wrap.

Wheeler was arrested on the following requested charges:

  • Minor in consumption of alcohol
  • Interference with law enforcement
  • Criminal damage to property
  • Pedestrian under the influence of alcohol
