In an incident reported on December 17, a vehicle theft unfolded at Club Car Wash, located at 655 S. Broadway, as a 2018 white Honda Accord with an estimated value of $28,000 was stolen. The theft took place between 3 and 4 pm, with the keys left in the vehicle.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage from the business and identified the potential suspect as Tony Nordahl, a 42-year-old resident of Salina. The situation took an unexpected turn at approximately 6 pm when an officer, investigating a separate traffic collision at 1200 E. Crawford, encountered the possible stolen vehicle, with Nordahl allegedly making an exit.

The officer attempted to apprehend Nordahl, who allegedly evaded capture by fleeing on foot. Despite the deployment of a taser, the suspect managed to elude its effects. Additional officers arrived on the scene, and after a struggle, Nordahl was taken into custody.

Nordahl was arrested on requested charges of Felony Theft, two counts of Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Obstruction, and DUI. One officer sustained minor injuries during the confrontation.
