On Saturday, September 9 at 2:20 pm, SPD received a license plate reader alert on a 2013 Hyundau Elantra, reported stolen from Wichita. The possible vehicle was located in the area, and pulled into Braums, 1800 W Crawford. The driver, identified as 32-year-old Michael Georage of Wichita, got out of the vehicle. SPD gave commands, to which Georage allegedly refused to comply and took off running down Crawford.

Georage tripped, and he was arrested and handcuffed. While officers were walking him back to the patrol vehicle, he was able to get away. Georage, reportedly running with handcuffs on, went behind Hickory Hut. In attempting to go up a curb, he tripped and fell, striking his head on the pavement. Georage was transported to the ER by EMS, and later charged with the following requested charges:

  • Possession of stolen property
  • Interference with law enforcement
  • Attempted theft
