On Sunday, October 29, a Saline County Deputy was called to the 100 block of Brownhill in response to a report concerning a suspicious vehicle. This vehicle was occupied by a man later identified as 33-year-old Derrick Stewart.
Upon closer examination, it was determined that the vehicle in question had allegedly been stolen from Ottawa County, near Bennington. Ottawa County Deputies were dispatched to the scene where the vehicle had been missing from, leading to the discovery of an abandoned 1987 Chevy Cavalier with an estimated value of $1,000. This particular vehicle had came back with an address in the 100 block of S 11th in Salina.
The owner of the stolen vehicle from Salina had last seen her car parked behind her residence at around 3 pm on Saturday, October 28. Stewart was arrested on the requested charge of vehicle theft.
