Pair Arrested After Knife Pointed at Officer in North Salina Motel

A man and woman were arrested on Monday after a knife was allegedly pointed at an SPD officer during a warrant arrest.

Captain Forrester says that the incident occurred on Monday, April 17 at 5 pm, at 781 N Broadway. An officer was sent to the Airliner Motel, as Darin Stewart was alleged to be there. Mr Stewart had an active probation violation warrant for his arrest out of Saline County District Court.

The officer made contact at the room with Kimberly O'Connor, who advised that Mr Stewart was in the room. However, Ms O'Connor allegedly tried to shut the door on the officer. The officer was able to enter the room, and reportedly saw Mr Stewart 10 feet in front of him with an unfolded black pocket knife in his right hand. Mr Stewart allegedly pointed the knife at the officer and told him to come into the room.

Mr Stewart eventually dropped the knife but reportedly continued to ignore commands. During the encounter, Ms O'Connor was allegedly preventing the officer from arresting Mr Stewart. Mr Stewart reportedly advanced toward the officer and was tased before being taken into custody. Both Mr Stewart and Ms O'Connor were arrested on the following requested charges:

Ms O'Connor:

  • Felony interference with law enforcement officer

Mr Stewart:

  • probation violation warrant
  • aggravated assault on law enforcement officer
  • felony interference with law enforcement officer
