Neighbor Dispute Escalates to Arrest After Reported Property Damage & Altercation

In an incident on December 8th at 10:45 pm, officers responded to a disturbance in the 700 block of Smoky Hill involving a dispute between neighbors. The suspect, 60-year-old Erin Branting, allegedly went to her neighbor's residence, tampering with their surveillance cameras and causing damage to one in the process.

The resident arrived during the incident and observed the situation unfold. Exiting his 2014 Buick Regal, he confronted Branting, who subsequently entered the victim's vehicle. In an attempt to prevent her from leaving, the victim was reportedly struck as Branting reversed the vehicle.

Branting now faces a range of requested charges, including aggravated battery, criminal deprivation of property, DUI, criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, and failure to have an ignition interlock device. The victim's vehicle was valued at $5,000, and the surveillance cameras incurred $200 in losses. Fortunately, the victim emerged from the incident without significant injuries.
