An accident occurred on January 5, at around 6 am, in the parking lot of Trinity Lutheran Church, located in the 700 block of S 9th St.
A vehicle that was reportedly westbound across 9th St, pulled into the parking lot and struck a parked vehicle.
An officer was on patrol and observed the vehicle, a Kidds Towing wrecker, stopped with its lights on reportedly resting against a parked box van. The officer pulled in to investigate and found the driver of the wrecker passed out in the driver's seat.
The driver, Alberto Garcia, a 25-year-old male from Wichita, was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol.
The wrecker, a 2019 Freightliner, had minor damage to the front driver side. The parked vehicle, a 2015 Ford Econoline box van, had minor damage to the rear end.
Garcia was arrested and charged with DUI and careless driving.
