When the Pruett family moved from Wichita to Salina in May 2024, they could not have imagined the difficult journey ahead. Just weeks after settling into their new home, their son Ezra, then three years old, was diagnosed with cancer.

In the months since, Ezra has undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy, twelve surgeries, and countless medications. The family even sought a second opinion in Ohio. Despite those efforts, his medical team has now told the family that there are no further treatments available.

β€œWe just had scans this past Friday and they found two to five more tumors growing on his lungs,” Ezra’s mother, Breann Pruett, said. β€œNow it’s my goal to give my baby the best life possible!”

For Breann, that means making the most of every moment with her energetic son. Ezra, now four, is described by his family as β€œfull of life and energy.” His mother says anyone who knows him knows that he believes he is a dinosaur.

Ezra is also a fan of motorcycles. After learning his story, Salina riders stepped up, visiting his home on their bikes to bring him joy and excitement. The show of support gave Ezra a chance to feel the rumble of engines and the thrill of motorcycles up close.

Doctors have encouraged the family to take this time to focus on quality of life and experiences rather than further hospital treatments. For Breann, that means letting Ezra live as the vibrant child he is, surrounded by family, love, and the joy he brings to others.
