SALINA, KS — A severe windstorm swept through Saline County today, bringing significant disruption and hazardous conditions. According to reports from the National Weather Service, wind gusts reached up to 78 mph, causing extensive damage and creating dangerous driving conditions on major roadways, including I-70.
The high winds lifted large amounts of dust, drastically reducing visibility on I-70. A video provided by a Salina family, capturing the severe dust storm's impact on traffic, was recorded in neighboring Ellsworth County. The footage shows drivers struggling to navigate through the low visibility conditions, with many forced to slow down or pull over until the dust subsided.
In addition to the traffic hazards, the windstorm caused damage to trees and structures across Salina County. Tree limbs were broken off, and some buildings experienced minor structural damage.
