Vehicle Fire on US 81 Near I-135 in Saline County Leaves Car Totaled, No Injuries Reported

**Saline County, KS** – On the afternoon of the 13th, a 2014 Toyota Rav4 driven by 21-year-old Michael Jacquart caught fire on US Highway 81 near the junction with Interstate 135 in Saline County. Jacquart, who was traveling with a 19-year-old passenger, noticed mechanical issues while driving, which escalated into an electrical problem, causing the vehicle to smoke and eventually ignite.  

The incident occurred shortly after the vehicle transitioned from I-135 to US 81 at Junction 70, just north of the I-135 interchange. Despite the car becoming a total loss as it burned to the ground, both Jaco and the passenger were unharmed. Local authorities, including Rural Fire District 7, responded to the scene and managed the situation.

The exact cause of the electrical issue remains under investigation. The junction where the incident took place is a well-traveled area, marking a critical intersection of major highways in the region. No injuries were reported in the incident, and the fire was contained without further complications.
