UPDATE: Item Thrown from Vehicle Window Leads to Requested Charges
UPDATE: At 7:20 pm officers were sent to 1500 Gypsum, for an injury accident. On arrival, two vehicles were observed to have major damage. A 2012 Ford Mustang was occupied by five teenagers, ages 13-16. They reported that they had been in Lakewood Park, when a passenger in the Ford threw something out the window. The teens were then allegedly chased by a 2004 Toyota Sequoia, occupied by 39-year-old Matthew Whitaker, of Salina. The Toyota may have hit the front of the Ford multiple times. Both vehicles ended up at Indian Rock Park, where the Toyota allegedly hit the front of the Ford, disabling both vehicles. Whitaker reported that his windshield and hood were struck with the item thrown from the other vehicle. His requested charges include five counts of aggravated battery and criminal damage to property. A 14-year-old teen passenger in the Ford was cited for littering.
ORIGINAL: On Tuesday, October 17 at 7:36 pm, officers were sent to Indian Rock Park, 1500 Gypsum Ave, for a motor vehicle accident. Reports indicate that this was a possible head on collision with injuries. Salina311 will have more information as it becomes available.
