Salina Police have confirmed that the vehicle involved in last week’s road rage crash was broken into after it was impounded.
According to Salina Police Department, the vehicle was impounded following the incident and transported to the BWP Wrecker lot. Police later determined the vehicle appears to have been broken into while in the wrecker company’s custody.
Authorities stated the vehicle had already been searched at the scene of the crash prior to being released to the wrecker company, and no search warrant was pending at the time it was impounded.
Road Rage Incident Led to Multi-Vehicle Crash
Salina Police have confirmed that the multi-vehicle crash at Centennial Road and Sunflower Drive was the result of a road rage incident, according to preliminary information obtained by Salina311.
Based on early investigative findings, a tan vehicle was identified as the aggressor toward a maroon vehicle. The two vehicles collided, causing the maroon vehicle to flip and come to rest inside the go-kart track at Jumpin’ Joe’s.
After the initial collision, the tan vehicle reportedly lost control and was involved in a head-on collision with a white vehicle.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and confirmed multiple injuries. The number and severity of those injuries have not yet been fully released.
Salina Police remained on scene following the crash and continue to investigate. Additional details, including potential charges, are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
Salina311 will continue to provide updates as confirmed information becomes available.
