Police Respond to Domestic Disturbance, Arrest Man for Aggravated Assault

On the evening of November 10th, police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on the 900 block of Beatrice Avenue. A 48-year-old female caller stated that her 38-year-old associate, identified as Christopher Carson, had been staying at her home.

The woman reported that Carson began acting strangely, demanding to know her name despite their long-standing association. He then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at her. The woman was able to calm Carson down before contacting the authorities.

When police arrived, they recovered a 9mm handgun and took Carson into custody without incident. Alcohol and mental health issues were believed to be contributing factors. Carson was charged with aggravated assault and criminal threat.

The incident occurred around 10pm. Police noted that while mental health co-responders are valuable, they cannot be dispatched to situations involving potential violence, as their training is focused on de-escalation rather than enforcement.
