Domestic Disturbance Leads to Arrest on West Ash Street

On August 28, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the 700 block of West Ash Street in response to a domestic disturbance. A 39-year-old female reported that she had been involved in an argument with James Brown, a 41-year-old male.

According to the victim, the altercation escalated when Brown forcibly removed her shorts, which contained keys and other personal items. In a fit of rage, he then smashed a glass window. As the victim tried to retrieve her belongings, Brown threw her to the ground multiple times, resulting in a cut to her elbow. She was also locked outside of the residence but managed to re-enter and call for help.

During the incident, Brown reportedly threw a baseball bat at the victim several times, but she was able to avoid being hit by ducking out of the way. When officers arrived, they took Brown into custody. He sustained a cut from the broken window and was taken to the hospital to be cleared for jail.

James Brown is facing charges of robbery, aggravated assault, damage to property, and domestic battery. Alcohol was a contributing factor in the incident.
