Three Injured in Rear-End Collision Near Smolan Road

On Friday, August 9, 2024, at approximately 3:37 pm, an accident occurred at the intersection of Smolan Road and Centennial Road involving two vehicles. A Saline County deputy was stopped on the road near the intersection, running radar, when a vehicle pulled up beside him to report a potentially unsafe vehicle in the area. After addressing the concern, the vehicle, a white Ford Taurus driven by 49-year-old Terri May of Lindsborg, pulled away from the deputy's car and was rear-ended.

The driver of the vehicle that rear-ended the Taurus was identified as 19-year-old Cole Tshudy of Smolan, who was driving a white 1989 Mustang convertible. The Mustang sustained front-end damage in the collision.

The Taurus was carrying May's husband, Michael, and their two daughters, Lilly, 15, and Journi, 12. All three passengers complained of pain and were transported to Salina Regional Health Center (SRHC) by EMS for further evaluation.
