Police Pursuit Ends in Ottawa County After High-Speed Chase

On July 17th, at approximately 10:14 pm, a Salina police officer attempted to stop a red Lexus passenger car in the 700 block of North 7th Street. The vehicle displayed an illegal tag, prompting the officer to initiate a traffic stop. The driver did not stop, and continued traveling northbound on 9th Street, rapidly exiting Salina and entering Ottawa County.

During the pursuit, speeds exceeded 125 miles per hour. Ultimately, law enforcement decided to terminate the chase near Granite Road and Old 81 Highway to prevent further danger to both officers and bystanders.

Shortly after the pursuit was called off, Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies located the red Lexus abandoned at 160th and Ivy Road. Upon inspection, it was confirmed that the vehicle was unoccupied. Efforts to locate the driver, who fled the scene, are currently underway.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence and interview potential suspects.
