The Saline County Commission has approved a three-year agreement with Trinity Services Group, Inc. for the provision of meals to the Department of Senior Services. The contract, effective from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2027, includes an option to renew for two additional one-year terms.
A Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued in January 2024, and three proposals were received. The proposals were evaluated based on the cost per meal and the inclusion of direct services such as non-food items. Trinity Services Group offered the lowest cost per meal at $4.25, though additional direct service costs of $42,464.44 brought the projected first-year total to $550,000. This was still significantly lower than the other proposals from Aladdin and New Horizon, which had projected costs of $631,865 and $659,260, respectively.
The Commission approved the agreement based on Trinity's compliance with guidelines and the best overall cost efficiency. The new contract will increase the budget request for the 2025 food service contract to $550,000, up from the $498,800 allocated in 2024.
The decision to approve the agreement was made during the Commission meeting on June 4, 2024.
