Saline County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a fire at the 2700 block of North 5th Street on April 23 at 3:30 pm. Rural Fire District 7 requested assistance with traffic control, closing 5th Street and Pleasant Hill Road. The fire, which affected Palmer Towing's property, was noticed by an employee from T&R Construction. Despite swift action by firefighters, a trailer sustained $20,000 in damages, while a parked semi was completely destroyed, valued at $80,000. The cause remains undetermined, with no suspicious activity noted. Investigation ongoing.
