On April 10th at approximately 2:35 am, Saline County Sheriff's Office responded to a fire in the 1800 block of West North Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a 1987 travel trailer engulfed in flames, parked adjacent to a building used as a workshop.

The fire had spread to the workshop, where a 65-year-old male was sleeping. Thankfully, he woke up to popping noises and escaped unharmed. The trailer, utilized for storage, contained personal belongings whose owner remains unknown.

Authorities suspect foul play and are investigating with assistance from Kansas State Fire Marshals. The cost of the damage is yet to be determined. An eyewitness who spotted the flames alerted emergency services, and Rural Fire District 7 extinguished the blaze.
