On March 14, between 3:35 pm and 3:45 pm near Dollar Tree at 1210 W Crawford Street, a concerning incident unfolded involving a group of five teenage girls aged 12, 14, 15, 15, and 16, and a Hispanic male in his 50's.

A vigilant 34-year-old woman observed the man approaching the girls, offering to buy them candy. Alarmed by the situation, she intervened, confronting the man and contacting law enforcement. Despite his explanation that he thought his actions were acceptable due to having a niece of similar age, the woman asserted that his behavior was unacceptable and urged him to leave the girls alone.

The man eventually departed in a white Dodge Ram pickup. While no criminal charges were filed, the Salina Police Department is continuing to investigate to ensure the safety of the girls.

The SPD stresses the importance of parental discussions with children about safety tips and "stranger danger". The SPD commended the woman's quick action, preventing a potentially dangerous situation.
