Major Drug Bust in Central West Salina
On March 13, 2024 a significant operation conducted by a joint effort of the I-70/I-135 Drug Task Force shook Central West Salina. The focus of the operation was on the distribution of fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid. Five residential search warrants were executed, uncovering a stash of approximately 2,000 pills suspected to contain fentanyl. These pills have been dispatched to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) lab for testing.
In addition to the alleged fentanyl discovery, law enforcement found what they believe to be methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, THC wax, and illegal firearms during the operation. The success of this operation was attributed to the cooperation of vigilant residents and citizens who assisted authorities.
No arrests have been made as authorities await the results of the lab tests and continue their investigation. The KBI high-risk warrant team served the warrants, with the Salina Police Department SWAT team lending assistance. The investigation remains ongoing.
