At the County Commission meeting on February 13, 2024, the Road and Bridge Department presented a request to procure two half tanker drainage structures from The Railroad Yard Inc. These structures, designed as 10-foot diameter tanks cut in half with steel plates welded to the bottom, are essential for drainage management.
With one structure already in inventory, the department highlighted the necessity of acquiring two additional units for future use. Despite exploring alternatives, including reinforced concrete box projects, the half tanker structures from The Railroad Yard were deemed the most economical solution.
The total cost for purchasing both structures is estimated at $26,180, including shipping. Considering the vital role of these structures in road maintenance and drainage management, the staff recommended their purchase.
To fund this acquisition, the commission approved allocating funds from the Special Bridge - 125 Account (2 Mil), which currently has a sufficient balance of $1,324,828.66.
The County Commission passed the motion, ensuring the acquisition of these critical drainage structures to support road infrastructure maintenance and improvement efforts.
