Two Salina Men Arrested After Early Morning Altercation

Two men were arrested for disorderly conduct following an incident in downtown Salina early Monday morning that resulted in one person seeking medical treatment for a minor injury.

At approximately 3:00 AM on January 13, police officers responded to a reported stabbing in the 100 block of North Santa Fe. Derek Morgan, 30, and Corey Harvey, 39, both of Salina, were involved in an altercation following an evening of watching football at a local bar.

According to police reports, the incident occurred in an alley behind 117 North Santa Fe after one of the men dropped some change on the ground. Both parties recounted different stories of the altercation. According to Morgan's initial statement, he was helping pick up the dropped change when an argument ensued, and Harvey allegedly pepper-sprayed him in the face before threatening to stab him. Morgan claimed he then stabbed Harvey in self-defense. Harvey, however, denied any physical altercation prior to being stabbed.

Harvey received treatment at a local hospital for a superficial cut to his arm before being taken into custody. Medical staff reported the injury was minor.

Neither party wished to pursue charges related to the stabbing. Both men were ultimately arrested for disorderly conduct.
