Two Injured in Collision Following Illegal U-Turn on I-135 in Saline County
A two-vehicle collision occurred on September 11, 2024, at approximately 3:00 PM on I-135 Southbound near milepost 95, just south of W Stimmel Rd in Saline County.
The crash involved a semi, driven by Abdifatah Hassan, 45, of Saint Cloud, Minnesota, and a 2022 Ram, driven by Dirk Speed, 66, of Salina. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, both vehicles were traveling southbound when Hassan missed the exit onto I-70 and attempted an illegal U-turn across the median, resulting in the collision.
Hassan was taken to Salina Regional Health Center with suspected minor injuries.
Speed’s Ram was pulling a 1977 OT trailer. Speed was also transported to Salina Regional Health Center with suspected minor injuries.
