At 6:10 AM on Friday, February 23, the Salina Police Department received a FLOCK hit regarding a stolen Chevy passenger car from the Wichita area, possibly being in Salina. Officers located the vehicle near Walmart at 2900 S. 9th St. The vehicle reportedly fled southbound on I-135, initiating a pursuit. Subsequently, the Kansas Highway Patrol assumed control of the chase as it crossed into McPherson County, with speeds exceeding 100 MPH.
Exiting I-135, the vehicle headed westward toward Marquette. Despite the successful use of tire deflation devices during the pursuit, the suspect persisted in evading capture, driving with deflated tires. Ultimately, KHP managed to conclude the pursuit near Marquette, resulting in the apprehension of two individuals.
The driver, identified as 42-year-old Michael Trautloff from Haven, Kansas, was taken into custody and booked into Saline County Jail on requested charges of felony fleeing and eluding, as well as obstruction. The female passenger, who was found to have an active warrant from Sedgwick County, was transported to Wichita by KHP.
