Twelve high school senior scholar-athletes have earned the honor of becoming National Finalists in the Heisman High School Scholarship competition awarded by The Heisman Trophy Trust. This includes Salina Central student-athlete, Callan Hall. These students are graduating seniors attending high schools across the country. They excel academically and in their respective sports. Most importantly, they are game changers in their schools and communities, using their talents to make a difference both on and off the field.
The Heisman High School Scholarship program began in 1994 as a way to extend the Heisman prestige to the nation’s most esteemed male and female high school seniors. Leveraging the Heisman Memorial Trophy as a symbol of great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work, the program invites graduating high school seniors who meet stringent qualification criteria to apply. By encouraging outstanding student athletes to share their stories of leadership and impact, the program aims to inspire all students to harness their potential, push their limits, and use their talents not only to advance their own futures, but to improve the communities and world around them. The program sends a clear message that important victories happen both on and off the field.
Every year, thousands of graduating seniors enter the competition. The program recognizes winners from each school and each state, and ultimately narrows down the applicants to arrive at 12 National Finalists who represent the most accomplished community-minded high school senior men and woman in the country. Over the past 29 years, the program has honored more than 600,000 high school seniors, providing hundreds of thousands of dollars in college scholarships to students and more than a million dollars to high school academic and athletic programs across the country.
The twelve 2023 National Finalists will each receive a $2,000 college scholarship. One male and one female from this esteemed group of champions will be named the National Winners. The winners will each receive a $10,000 college scholarship and become part of the Heisman legacy.
