Traffic Lights Out, Minor Flooding Reported as Salina Monitors Rising Water Amid Flood Warning
Intersection of SantaFe and Crawford

KDOT is placing road-closed barricades on K-140 Highway due to flooding between Reece Road and Wyman Road.

Salina has received 2.6 inches of rain in the past six hours, according to the National Weather Service, with measurements recorded at Salina Regional Airport. Total rainfall accumulation is projected to reach 5 to 7 inches.

Salina311 is monitoring the Smoky Hill River and how rising water levels may affect the ongoing logjam removal project, which began last week.

A Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Wichita. The warning, first announced September 8 at 12:18 p.m., remains in effect until September 10 at 1:08 a.m.

Minimal flooding has already been reported in areas prone to high water, including North 9th, portions of Santa Fe, and Iron Avenue, as well as walkways behind commercial businesses in downtown Salina.

Traffic lights are currently out at Santa Fe Avenue and Crawford Street. Temporary stop signs have been placed, and drivers are advised to treat the intersection as a four-way stop.

Residents are encouraged to use caution, avoid driving through flooded roadways, and monitor official weather updates as additional rainfall is expected.
