The Salina Family YMCA is powered by a community that believes in giving back. Every day, members and supporters come together at the Y not only to stay active and connected, but to support one another in meaningful ways. This shared commitment to caring for neighbors helps ensure the YMCA remains a safe, welcoming place for everyone who walks through its doors.
That spirit of generosity was recently reflected through a thoughtful donation to the YMCA’s Aquatics Department. The gift included new training equipment, backboards, infant mannequins, fanny packs, pool noodles, pocket masks, and additional safety supplies for YMCA lifeguards.
These tools play a direct role in enhancing water safety and preparedness, helping lifeguards train effectively and respond confidently to emergencies, while maintaining a secure environment for members and guests.
“Investing in lifeguard training is an investment in safety,” said Ellen Hogeland, Senior Director of Programs at the Salina Family YMCA. “This gift ensures our team has the resources they need to train thoroughly and respond with confidence, reinforcing our commitment to protecting everyone who enters our aquatic spaces.”
The donation serves as a strong example of how individual generosity can strengthen the YMCA community. From the lifeguards on deck to the families who rely on YMCA programs, support like this helps foster an environment where safety, connection, and care come first.
