SALINA, KANSAS — The Salina Family YMCA hosted a successful Teen Night this past weekend, welcoming more than 90 teens ages 11–18 for an evening of games, music, and community. The event offered a safe, welcoming space for young people to connect and build friendships, aligning with the Y’s mission to support youth development.
Activities included video games, basketball, line dancing, and a crowd-favorite silent disco.
The event was supported by volunteers, donors, and community partners. Special thanks to:
- Domino’s Pizza for providing food
- Mahaska for donating refreshments
- Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salina and St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church for sharing video games
- Kansas Wesleyan University (Student Development) for providing silent disco equipment
“These kinds of partnerships reflect what the Y is all about,” said Chris LeHecka, CEO of the Salina Family YMCA. “By connecting with local organizations and businesses, we’re able to create meaningful opportunities for teens and young adults to engage in positive, community-driven experiences.”
The Salina Family YMCA remains committed to programs that foster youth development, promote healthy living, and strengthen community connections. Events like Teen Night help teens build confidence, leadership skills, and lasting friendships in a safe, supportive environment.
