Salina Man with Active Warrant Apprehended, Narcotics & Stolen Property Found

Earlier this week, law enforcement officers successfully apprehended an individual believed to have active warrants, in the 1100 block of N 9th St. At 10:30 pm, officers identified a possible subject with an active warrant. However, upon circling the block, they discovered that the individual had vanished from sight. The officers then conducted a search of the area.

Ultimately, officers located the alleged subject in the 1400 block of N 5th St. The person allegedly attempted to hide but was eventually found behind a nearby vehicle. The subject's identity was allegedly confirmed to be that of 47-year-old Eugene Burke, of Salina.

During a subsequent search, law enforcement allegedly located items believed to be narcotics, as well as various items believed to have been stolen in a prior vehicle burglary case back in April. The subsequent investigation, probable cause was established for the following requested charges: possession of an opiate/narcotic drug, drug tax stamp violation, drug paraphernalia violation, and possession of stolen property.
