Saline County Emergency Management, in partnership with the National Weather Service in Wichita, will host a free public severe weather education event titled “Storm Fury on the Plains” on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Kansas Wesleyan University.
The event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:00 p.m., and will take place in Peter Science Hall, Room 201, located at 100 E. Claflin Street on the Kansas Wesleyan University campus.
According to event materials, the program is designed to provide attendees with foundational information on severe weather safety, including how thunderstorms develop, what warning signs to watch for, and how to appropriately report weather information to authorities.
The session is open to the public at no cost and is intended for residents seeking a better understanding of severe weather risks common to the region, including storms that can impact Saline County and surrounding areas.
Saline County Emergency Management officials note that the event is part of ongoing public outreach efforts aimed at improving community preparedness and awareness ahead of the spring severe weather season.
