Deputies recovered a stolen 2016 silver Hyundai Sonata on Sunday afternoon in the 4500 block of East North Street, with investigators now examining evidence of an attempted arson.
The vehicle, owned by a 28-year-old Salina woman, was discovered abandoned around 1:30 p.m. on August 4th. Responding officers found the car with its driver's door open, a damaged windshield, and burn evidence in the back seat area.
According to preliminary reports, Dixon had loaned the vehicle to an acquaintance. The friend told investigators that someone stole the car after it was left running with a dog inside.
The Saline County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating the theft and attempted vehicle destruction. No arrests have been announced at this time.
