I want to sincerely thank the voters of our community for the trust they have placed in me. This was a highly competitive race with nine candidates, and in many cases, just a hundred votes separated one position from another. That speaks to how engaged and thoughtful our citizens are, and I appreciate everyone who stepped forward to run, volunteer, and participate.
Our city has many positive things happening, and I am optimistic about what we can accomplish together. My goal is to represent the entire community, 100%, and to do so with openness, respect, and integrity. While I had hoped to see more members of our βtrifectaβ team join me on the commission, I remain confident that one committed individual can make a meaningful difference. I intend to work hard, listen carefully, and collaborate wherever progress is possible.
I do wish we had seen higher voter turnout, because every voice matters. We are on the threshold of making decisions that will shape our city for decades to come, and I encourage every resident to stay informed and engaged as we move forward.
As I mentioned during the campaign, I will be away for part of the winter months, but I will return regularly for commission meetings and responsibilities. The voters were aware of that, and I will work diligently to ensure their confidence is well-placed. I will be present, prepared, and accountable.
I also want to acknowledge and thank those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to support our efforts. Iβm especially proud of Keith Cooper and Jak Keller for finishing in the top tier. Keith, at just 38, has a bright future in public service, and I hope he runs again. And Jak has a remarkable ability to dig deeply into issues and understand the details. I intend to continue working with both of them, as well as the broader team, as trusted advisors throughout my term.
To everyone who voted, volunteered, donated, encouraged, or stood with us in any way: thank you, truly. I am honored to serve, and I will do everything I can to make you proud.
Respectfully,
Doug Rempp
