Every year seems to bring a new collectible cup frenzy, and this season it’s the Starbucks “Bearista” Cup taking over, following last year’s hype around the Stanley Cup tumblers.
In Salina, the craze was immediate. Staff at Target on South 9th Street said their entire shipment of Bearista cups sold out the same day they arrived, with customers returning daily to check for restocks. Both Starbucks locations in Salina — downtown and South 9th Street — confirmed they never received the holiday cups in their Christmas shipments.
According to store representatives, neither Target nor Starbucks plan to restock them. Despite the shortage, listings for the Bearista cups have appeared on resale sites for $75 to $200 — proof that the holiday cup mania is alive and well in Salina.
