St. Paul and the Broken Bones, founded in Birmingham, Alabama in 2011, features an eight-piece ensemble led by vocalist Paul Janeway. Other members include Jesse Phillips (bass), Browan Lollar (guitar), Kevin Leon (drums), Al Gamble (keyboards), Allen Branstetter (trumpet), Chad Fisher (trombone), and Amari Ansari (saxophone).
The band burst onto the music scene with their 2014 debut album "Half the City," which established their distinctive sound and led to appearances at major festivals including Lollapalooza, Coachella, and Glastonbury. Their performances have earned praise from publications such as The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and NPR, and they have shared stages with legendary artists including Elton John and The Rolling Stones.
Known for their dynamic live performances, the group has evolved their sound with each album, moving beyond old-school soul to incorporate funk, disco, psychedelia, and experimental R&B. Their upcoming album, "Angels In Science Fiction," will build on the experimental sounds explored in their 2022 release "The Alien Coast."
