Dear Citizens of Salina,
Thank you for the opportunity to share my background, my work on the Commission, and why I am seeking re-election.
I was born and raised in Salina, graduating from Salina South High School in 1991 before earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Washburn University in 1995. My professional path in public safety began in Topeka as a security officer in the Capitol Building under the Capitol Police and as a courier with PSI Armored. About a year later, I began working in the Kansas City area as a law enforcement officer. Most of my law enforcement experience is with the Merriam Police Department in Johnson County.
When my son, Sam, was born, my family returned home to Salina to be closer to relatives. I worked for a little over a year with the Salina Police Department before transitioning to our family business, Lenkiewicz Rental Properties. That move allowed me to raise my children, Sam and Sophie, here in our community while helping grow a local business. As our family business expanded, we established Lenkiewicz Property Management, and I have now spent nearly 25 years in the field of investment real estate.
My involvement in local government began when I was appointed to the Salina Planning Commission, where I served for approximately five years before being elected to the City Commission in 2021. During my first term, I have had the privilege of serving as Mayor and participating in numerous programs focused on continued development and economic growth in Salina.
As I seek re-election, I believe several priorities should remain at the forefront:
• Workforce recruitment and retention
• Supporting and expanding services for individuals experiencing homelessness, including those facing addiction and mental-health challenges
• Sustained and strategic local economic development
We are fortunate to have strong partnerships in place. The Salina Area Chamber of Commerce and the Salina Community Economic Development Organization work closely with the City to support workforce growth and business investment. Salina Grace continues to serve the needs of our homeless population, and the City has partnered financially and operationally with that organization to strengthen services. These collaborations must continue and evolve.
Throughout my service, I have approached every issue from a nonpartisan and non-denominational standpoint. I believe that is what best serves the people of Salina and that approach will not change if I am elected to another term.
I am also proud to report that the City of Salina remains revenue neutral for both the 2025 and 2026 fiscal years. The mill levy is down 0.849 from 2025. Even while holding steady on taxes, the City remains fiscally strong with a healthy fund balance supported by sound financial management and continued investment in public safety and infrastructure.
Over the last four years, we have focused on practical improvements and strategic growth. There is more work to do, and I am asking for your support so I may continue working on behalf of our community.
It has been an honor to serve you. I would be grateful for your vote on November 4, 2025.
Thank you, and please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Kind regards,
Greg Lenkiewicz
