South Middle School's 8th-grade students delved into Salina's rich history during a recent project in Mr. Curry's U.S. History classes, fostering a heightened appreciation for our city's past. The assignment entailed researching Salina's history and notable landmarks to craft a new flag for the community.
Following extensive research, each class cast their votes to select one outstanding design to represent them in a competition. Mayor Mike Hoppock played the role of a special guest judge. The winning design, created by Isabelle Henry (pictured in the middle of the group photo), earned her a commendable gift basket courtesy of the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce.
