Kansas Wesleyan Softball split its two games on the final day of the American State Bank Classic hosted by Dordt University at the ASB Dome.
The Coyotes dropped the first game to No. 15 Northwestern 9-0, and the bats came alive for the Coyotes in the second game as KWU beat Doane 14-0.
Against Northwestern the Coyotes fell behind 1-0 after the first inning and the Raiders added two more runs in the second to take a 3-0 lead.
Two more went on the board for Northwestern in the bottom of the fifth, and then the Raiders ended it in the bottom of the sixth scoring four times to end the game on the run rule.
Josie Buhr, Jenna Soule, Jocelyn Alcala and Keira Hammen had hits for the Coyotes. Starter Halley Asbury took the loss allowing three runs on four hits. Alli Mickelsen gave up two runs, and Haven Byerly allowed four runs.
The Coyotes turned the tides in the second game, scoring 14 runs on only seven hits, taking advantage of four errors by Doane.
Wesleyan blew the game wide open in the first scoring eight times. The Coyotes walked the bases loaded and then the runs starting coming across. More walks and then three straight errors followed by another walk made it 8-0 after an inning.
Five more came across for the Coyotes in the second as the Coyotes extended the lead to 13-0.
One more came across in the fourth to make it 14-0.
Trenity Miller and Hammen had two hits each for the Coyotes. Miller drove in four runs. Miranda Fogal got the win, allowing two hits and striking out eight with four walks. Caitlyn Collier pitched an inning.
The Coyotes are back on the road next weekend, heading to Pineville, Louisiana for a tournament hosted by LSU-Alexandria.
