The countdown to the Smoky Hill River Festival has begun, and while the main event is still three months away, preparations are already in full swing. Festival Jam '24, a highlight of the festivities, is set to kick off on Thursday, June 13th, with music igniting the stage from 5:45 pm onwards.
Starting this Friday, March 15th, SM Hanson will begin the process of scouting bands for Festival Jam '24. Last year saw an impressive array of talent from across the Midwest vying for a spot on the lineup. Out of the multitude of submissions, a select committee will handpick 16 bands to grace the SM Hanson Festival Jam stage.
Each chosen band will have the spotlight for 12 minutes, with a swift three-minute transition between acts facilitated by SM Hanson Music, providing backline equipment of amplifiers, keyboards, and drum sets. This seamless setup ensures a dynamic flow of performances, allowing bands to hit the stage again in mere minutes.
While some bands may initially feel that a mere twelve minutes isn't enough time to shine, organizers remind them of the unparalleled opportunity to showcase their talents to a crowd of 12,000 enthusiastic festival-goers.
