Skid Steer Fire Causes $74,500 Loss on Rural Property

A 2022 Bobcat skid steer was destroyed by fire Wednesday afternoon while being used to load hay bales on rural property north of town.

A resident of Gypsum was operating the T770 model skid steer to load round bales onto a trailer at 4396 N Woodward Road when the equipment caught fire around 3:06 p.m.

Rural Fire Department #5 and a sheriff's deputy responded to the scene. The skid steer, valued at $74,500 when new, was a total loss.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
