Shriner Sportsman Event

Shriner Sportsman Event

Salina Shriners held a fundraiser today, and it was delicious.

Shriners and their supporters turned out for an exquisite dinner of pork, potatoes, green beans, and rolls.

A raffle was held, with the drawings being for Cabelas gift cards.

Comedian Jeremy Nunes was brought in as entertainment.

The raffle drawing also included several gift baskets that were put together. The baskets were made up of items such as KU and KC Chiefs items, kitchen supplies, home goods, and more.

Shriners is an organization that helps kids who wouldn't otherwise receive ongoing medical care due to birth defects or injury. Their hospitals are located around the country, each specializing in a particular need. These include burns, skeletal dysplasia, and cleft palates, just to name a few.

Many kids who need Shriners live hours away from the nearest Shriners hospital. The purpose of today's fundraiser was to raise money to help any family in need of Shriners medical care. Families are given travel vouchers, making the burden of medical emergencies or ongoing care much less burdensome.
