The Salina Family YMCA was honored to welcome Kansas State Senator Scott Hill for a hands-on visit to our Grab N’ Go Summer Food Program, a program designed to ensure local youth have access to healthy meals throughout the summer months.
Senator Hill didn’t just stop by, he volunteered alongside our team, helping distribute meals to families and engaging with the community we serve.
His visit couldn’t have come at a better time, as this week marked our busiest Grab N’ Go of the summer, with 663 children served and an incredible 6,630 meals provided. That is five days’ worth of breakfast and supper for every child who came through our line.
At the Y, we believe that access to food is access to opportunity, and we are incredibly grateful for public servants who show up, connect, and serve with us.
Thank you, Senator Hill, for being part of a week we will not forget.
