Sculpture at Jerry Ivey Park Temporarily Removed for Repairs
“Poco a Poco Se Va Lejos” by artist Pokey Park, located at Jerry Ivey Park

SALINA, Kan. — The City of Salina and the Community Art & Design (CAD) Committee are working to repair and relocate the bronze sculpture “Poco a Poco Se Va Lejos” by artist Pokey Park, located at Jerry Ivey Park.

After years of exposure to weather and environmental changes, the sculpture’s mounting system has become unstable and requires repair. With the removal of the pond and other planned upgrades to the park, city staff and the CAD Committee will also evaluate a new location for the piece once repairs are completed.

Arts & Humanities staff will coordinate with the Parks Department to ensure the project is completed in a timely manner, though no specific timeline for reinstallation has been set.

The CAD Committee, a mayor-appointed advisory board, provides ongoing evaluations and recommendations to help preserve Salina’s public art collection. The city emphasized its commitment to public safety and maintaining the collection to the highest standards.
