At the recent USD 305 school board meeting, Superintendent Linn Exline expressed gratitude to district staff for their flexibility and hard work during recent weather-related school closures.
Exline specifically acknowledged the efforts of the operations staff, stating they "moved a lot of snow" and "put out a lot of ice melt." She emphasized the challenging conditions, mentioning that staff were "dealing with ice" and praised the operations staff for their hard work.
The superintendent also thanked Assistant Superintendent Shanna Rector and her team for quickly revamping plans for a district-wide in-service day. Originally scheduled to feature trainers for the Visible Learning program, the event had to be restructured when the trainers were unable to travel due to the storm. Principals were prepared to deliver the in-service themselves before it was ultimately canceled.
Exline acknowledged the difficulty of making decisions about school closures, describing it as "probably my least favorite decision that I get to make." She noted that such decisions can impact the entire community and appreciated everyone's patience.
The superintendent concluded by recognizing the overall flexibility of building-level leadership, district-level leadership, and staff in adapting to the situation.
