It was a great day to be a Cougar today! The Cougars went to Wichita and bowled some great games including a 300!!!!!
The Boys team was first to bowl today against Andover, Andover Central, Augusta, Buhler, Maize South, Mulvane, and Trinity. They came out strong with an 825 series in their first game on the shoulders of Nathan Frees who notched a 260 game. They upped their score for game 2 taking an 885 with help from Campbell and Nathan both shooting an impressive 245 game. The Cougars had a tough transition in game three and were only able to put together an 804 series led by Campbell's 223 game. These three games gave the Cougars a 2517 series total. This is still 16 pins higher than their season average. This score was enough to put the Cougars as the 3 seed going into bakers bracket play.
The Cougars took on the Mulvane Wildcats for their first match of the day, where they went three games (225-191/ 175-207/ 212-175) but pulled out the win. For their second match up they took on the 7 seed Andover who upset the 2 seed in the previous round. The Cougars were able to take down the Trojans in 2 games (168-157/ 187-177). That win was enough to send them to the Championship where they took on the #1 seed Trinity. The Cougars battled hard and took the match to three (227-214/ 176-195/ 207-145), but ultimately couldn't get it done and took 2nd on the day!
Top 10 Individuals for the Cougars were Nathan Frees 3rd and Campbell Peterson 5th. Nathan had a 260 for a high game and 694 series. Campbell had a 245 high game and 645 series.
The Girls kept with the momentem in their 3 game series. For their first game the Lady Cougars shot a 748 series, with Rylees 204 high game. The Lady's improved on their score in game two shooting an 812, Anreya had the high game of 224 (Anreya's Season Best). Lastly for game three the lady Cougars shot their best game series of the year with an 863. This was the game where Rylee Lambeth shot her first 300!!! These scores were able to give the Lady Cougs a 2423 series, which is their best score of the season, and the best score in the state of Kansas for all divisions!!! This score put our girls as the #1 seed for bracket play.
In Bracket play our girls kept on knocking pins down! They took on the #8 seed Trinity who they beat in two games (138-123/ 174-106). They moved on to face #4 seed Andover Central who they also beat in two games (162-157/ 149-134). These two wins moved the Cougs into the Championship where they took on the #2 seed Buhler Crusaders. The Girls shot their two best scores of the day and took the Andover Inv. Team Title (190-174/ 190-164).
The Lady Cougars had 5 of their 6 bowlers place in the top 10 today! They were led by Ms. 300 herself Rylee Lambeth who put together a 709 series (2nd Best in the State of Kansas). Anreya Ordonez took 3rd with her new person best series 604 and 224 high game. Callie Vargas took 4th with her 591 series and 205 high game. Rita Boland took 9th with her 497 series and 192 high game. And taking 10th today was Odessa Miller with her 477 series and 171 high game.
