UPDATE: May 26th Shooting Victim Succumbs to Injuries

UPDATE:

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan reports that Janet Willson died of her injuries yesterday afternoon, June 11, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

PREVIOUS:
Charges dismissed in Saline County attempted murder investigation. On Sunday May 26th, 2024 at about 7:24 PM deputies responded to a residence located in the 10000 block of W. Watkins Road in rural Saline County for a report of a female claiming to have been shot by her husband.

Responding deputies found a female (43) in the yard of the residence with a single .410 Guage shotgun wound to the abdomen. Deputies took Timothy Lecklider (60) into custody at the scene. Timothy Lecklider was booked into the Saline County Jail on charges of attempted Murder.

On June 10th, 2024 investigators conducted an interview with the victim and coupled with evidence collected at the scene determined that Timothy Lecklider was not involved in the shooting.

On June 10th, 2024 Mr. Lecklider was released from custody. The injury is now believed to be self-inflicted and the investigation is ongoing.

On May 26 at 7:24 pm, the Saline County Sheriff's Office responded to a distress call from Janet Willson, 43, at 10798 West Watkins Road. She reported being shot by her husband, Timothy Lecklider, 60, with a .410 shotgun following an argument.

Deputies found Willson in the yard; she was rushed to Salina Regional Health Center for surgery and then airlifted to Wichita in critical condition. Lecklider was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder. The investigation is ongoing.
